Capricornia's Neighbourhood Watch goes online with blogs

THE Capricornia Police District is holding a Neighbourhood Watch Promotional event at the PCYC Saturday between 9am and midday to coincide with the official launch of the new Neighbourhood Watch model.

The Honorable Jack Dempsey MP Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services will officially launch the new model, including the new 15 District Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) blogs at the Townsville Picnic Bay Surf Life Saving Club.

"These are exciting times for Neighbourhood Watch in Queensland, with the launch of the new Neighbourhood Watch model taking place," Inspector Les Bulluss, Manager for Community Programs and Engagement Brisbane.

"The new model, in a nutshell, is anything the community wants it to be. A Neighbourhood Watch area can now be as small as an apartment complex to as large as a police district and every variable in between."

As part of the government election commitment to the renewal of NHW, District blogs were developed to further support a social media focus.

Rockhampton Crime Prevention Officers will be at the PCYC this Saturday to promote the launch of the local NHW district blog and assist the public in accessing the blog site.
