Capricornia's opera "Caves" turns it up a few notes

PEOPLE from as far as Melbourne are making the trip to Central Queensland, to hear some of the best operatic voices around.

Opera will resonate through natural limestone at the Capricornia Caves tonight.

Owner Ann Augusteyn says the Opera at the Caves nights are not to be missed, with the caves providing incredible acoustics.

"We have three sessions, twice a year, and the caves are packed every time," Ann said.

The Underground Opera Company provides some of Australia's finest performers to sing a selection of operas greatest arias and duets.

Ann says it is quite an intimate experience, with the performers quite close to the 90-member audience.

"It's a very special event," she said.

The two and a half hour event has been extremely popular with out-of-state audience members coming to Rockhampton just for the opera experience.

Ann says it's so popular due to the fact that it's an amazing performance and the actual acoustics are close to perfect.
