Tourist dies in highway crash

A KOREAN tourist is dead and two others are in hospital after the car they were in crashed on the Bruce Highway north of Rockhampton this morning.

The two surviving people, aged 24 and 35, were flown by the RACQ CQ Rescue Helicopter to Mackay Hospital.

"It appears the van they were traveling in veered from the road and down an embankment, landing on its roof," a spokesperson for the rescue helicopter said.

Four Koreans were following in another car. All were travelling north.

People driving past the horrible crash assisted at the scene until emergency services crews arrived.

The spokesperson for the rescue helicopter said the two airlifted Koreans weren't believed to have serious injuries.

The accident happened around 11am near Clairview, 207km north of Rockhampton.
