Investigations into suburban road rage ongoing
AN ARGUMENT in a car park allegedly sparked a car chase through suburban streets that only ended when one of the vehicles slammed into a tree.
Police were late yesterday still investigating a disturbing series of events that started just after 3pm on Saturday.
Two vehicles had been parked at McDonald's at the corner of James St and Anzac Ave when another vehicle pulled up alongside them.
CCTV footage captured at the family restaurant shows the occupants of the cars arguing before one of the people involved gets into a beige Toyota Echo and drives off along Glenvale Rd.
A red Mercedes then pursues the smaller car before eventually ramming into it.
The chase allegedly continued with the cars racing through suburban streets.
The chase however came to a sudden end in Rob St, Newtown when the Toyota slammed into a tree.
Police said the number plate from the Mercedes was lodged in the wrecked vehicle when it rammed into the smashed car before its driver fled the scene.
One woman was taken to hospital after the incident while another was assisting police.
A police spokesman said officers had seized CCTV footage from McDonald's to assist with their investigations.
