'Mr Incredible' slashes tyres after rugby loss

DRESSED as Mr Incredible, a man took a kitchen knife, slashed his partner's car tyres and then ran off, the Magistrate's Court heard this week.

The defendant's lawyer Brad Krebs said his client had played in a Past Brothers Rugby League Club grand final, but lost.

Mr Krebs said his client then went to the club on September 1 to celebrate end of season with his teammates for Mad Monday.

Mr Krebs said his client "got caught up in it" and "had too much to drink".

When he arrived home the man was angry his partner had taken money he withdrew from the ATM.

He said the defendant thought "if she is going to stop me from going out, then I'm going to stop her going out".

Police prosecutor Sergeant Merrilyn Hoskins said the incident occurred at 7.45pm.

She said the offender was dressed in Incredibles fancy dress and slashed all four tyres of his partner's car with the kitchen knife.

He then disposed of the knife in a bin and ran away, the court heard.

Magistrate Penelope Hay said the offence was serious because the man's partner may not have known his intentions when he grabbed the kitchen knife.

"Your partner cannot read your mind," she said.

Magistrate Hay ordered he pay a fine of $800 and police issued a protection order against him after the event.
