Cardboard in shipping container alight

FIREFIGHTERS were called to investigate a shipping container after reports the contents had caught alight.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said crews attended the container, located behind Super Amart furniture store on Yaamba Rd, about 2.50pm yesterday.

She said there was only cardboard inside.

No other property was destroyed.

However, there was some minor smoke damage to other containers.

The fire was extinguished and the area was made safe.
