Carparks to reopen after flood

CARPARKS along Quay Street will reopen in the coming days.

In a statement released by Rockhampton Regional Council this afternoon, council stated the Riverside carpark at Archer St was expected to reopen tomorrow, and the carpark at Fitzroy St was expected to reopen Wednesday or Thursday.

However, the barbecues wouldn't be online for some time.

The statement said though flood waters have quickly receded since reaching a peak of 7.1m over the weekend, council expected it to be two weeks before all electrical equipment along the riverbank is able to function again.

Electrical lines to the barbecues and lighting along the boardwalk and at the pontoons will need to be allowed to fully dry and be cleaned before it is safe to turn the power on again.

Barbecues and lighting on Huish Drive are not effected by this and remain fully functional.
