Cars will storm final event

MOTORSPORT: They will squeal their tyres, rev their engines and form clouds of smoke – the Central Queensland Motorsporting club plans to finish its season in style.

The Saleyards Complex in Gracemere will be stormed with over 20 cars as they go head to head in the final MotorKhana event for the season.

Andrew Mitchell will lead his A-grade event after recently winning the Queensland Motor Car Series.

Central Queensland Motorsporting club president Gordon Fischer said Mitchell had been in good form.

The locals will test their skills on about 18 different test courses throughout the day, each varying slightly.

Fischer said the season had been good with the locals building their reputation.

Today’s event expects a wide range of competitors and vehicles that will make the trip from as far away as Gladstone.

Fischer said that class C will be the most popular and there would be a lot of juniors competing.

“We have a strong junior development program, which teaches the kids good car control and breaking.”
