Catholic Church bishop raises concerns ahead of election

WHILE asylum seekers are a big concern, Catholic Bishop of Rockhampton Brian Heenan also spoke on other matters ahead of the election.

"The issue that is always present is the sacredness of life and we (Catholic Church) feel life in the womb is sacred.

"We are not supportive of the process of abortion and euthanasia which continues to be raised.

"We believe life is a gift from God," he said.

Bishop Heenan explained how support for families and single mother's needs to be addressed as well.

"I hope whoever will be in parliament will look at the dignity of people who find themselves in poor circumstances and deserve to have a reasonable income to survive on," Bishop Heenan said.
