Catholic teachers to strike for better pay and conditions
CATHOLIC school teachers are being punished because of postcodes when it comes to their wages and are striking in protest.
Teachers working for Catholic Education will walk out of classrooms for two hours today in Rockhampton primary and high schools from 11am until 1pm.
Principals within Rockhampton assure school will go ahead as normal for students with minimal disruptions to their learning.
Queensland teachers are currently being paid about $6700 less than New South Wales teachers of the same skill level.
Catholic schools across Queensland are currently negotiating a new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement and teachers are demanding the wage gap be closed between this postcode and New South Wales.
