Man caught driving without license has never held one
A MAN who told police he was relieving his tired mother from driving when caught driving at Mount Morgan should have sat a license test before getting behind the wheel.
Sam Anthony Waterton pleaded guilty to one count of driving without a license in Rockhampton Magistrates Court yesterday after police intercepted him on the Burnett Highway at 5pm on October 21.
Police prosecutor Danita Clarke told the court Waterton "readily admitted to police he had never held a license".
Magistrate Michael O'Driscoll told Waterton he was not welcome on the road until he applied for a license.
"If you do not know the road rules there is a safety issue," he said.
Waterton was fined $400 and disqualified from holding or obtaining a license for one month.
