Cause of blaze is not known

FIRE investigators will today attempt to establish the cause of a blaze that caused massive damage to a house in Mount Morgan on Saturday.

Police have ruled out arson and say they don't believe there were any suspicious circumstances.

But the precise cause of the fire, which engulfed the house in Grey Street about 5pm, is still a mystery.

A spokesman for Queensland Fire and Rescue Service said the home was well alight by the time officers arrived in response to a triple-0 call.

No-one was injured but it is understood there were people in the house who managed to escape before the flames took hold.

The spokesman said firefighters battled the blaze for more than three hours before it was finally under control.
