Cause of fatal Bruce Hwy crash not yet determined

THE forensic crash unit is still investigating the cause of a crash on the Bruce Hwy which claimed the life of a man on Monday. .

It was initially reported a medical condition may have led to the crash, however, police cannot confirm the cause until a post mortem is carried out.

The 48-year-old had been travelling on the Bruce Hwy near The Caves at 2pm when his vehicle veered into an embankment and came to a stop.

Police have not released the name of the Tungamull man at this stage.

This was one of two fatal crashes in the Rockhampton region within three days.

Emergency crews attended several other traffic incidents over the long weekend, with two people sustaining serious injuries.

A 37-year-old man is still in a serious but stable condition at Rockhampton Hospital after his vehicle crashed on Emu Park Rd on Sunday morning.

And a motorbike rider has been transferred from Rockhampton to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, after his bike crashed into a tree on Sunday afternoon.

The 20-year-old is in a critical but stable condition.
