Celebrating 990 years of service

A TOTAL of 990 years of service has been celebrated among Toowoomba's Aurizon staff members.

An awards night, celebrating up to 50 years in the job, was held at the Burke and Wills Hotel.

Regional operations leader Matt Branscombe said the night was all about celebrating different milestones staff members had accomplished.

"Staff members go a present from the organisation and also got a plaque," Mr Branscombe said.

"Then we had the awards dinner where we had put together a summary of work history."

The night included the awards pretension and a three-course dinner.

Mr Branscombe credited so many long-standing staff members, which included train drivers to managerial staff, to a love of the job.

Aurizon is Australia's largest rail freight operator.
