CELEBRITY CHEF: A tasty weekend in CQ
ST LAWRENCE Wetlands Weekend will be serving up a celebrity feast with chef Matt Golinksi headlining the festival.
This emerging tourism event will take food lovers on a tantalising adventure at St Lawrence's normally quiet wetlands on June 8-10.
Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said Matt's passion for creating cuisine from fresh, seasonal and local ingredients was great for Isaac producers.
"I'm excited that Matt will showcase what I believe is some of Australia's best produce taken right from our backyard,” Cr Baker said.
"Matt Golinski brings with him decades of experience, a passion for Queensland and a contagious love for food that will leave your hungry for more.
"Isaac's food producers are just another way the region energises the world.
"Enjoy a scrumptious bushman's dinner featuring local free range pork, delicious fresh local chilli mud crabs and taste our finest regional produce at this emerging festival.”
Golinski said his style as a chef was defined by a passion for using fresh local ingredients from his hometown on the Sunshine Coast.
"The thing I love most about working with food is the infinite amount of learning involved in the craft,” Golinski said.
"Even in 100 lifetimes you couldn't cover all there is to know about cooking, and every day working in a kitchen is a new adventure with boundless opportunities to learn and create.”
St Lawrence will burst into life with an immersive experience of creativity, education, family fun, live entertainment and mouthwatering food.
The St Lawrence Wetlands form part of the greater Broadsound Wetlands listed in the Directory of Important Wetlands in Australia.
Cr Baker said camping and caravan facilities were onsite and close by the festivities.
"Be energised by this free family friendly festival enjoying one of nature's finest wetlands,” Cr Baker said.
