Central Queensland celebrates Carers Week

CENTRAL Queensland counts on the selflessness of so many carers in the region and National Carers Week is a time to celebrate and recognise their efforts.

Held from October 15-21, the week recognises those who provide care and support to a family member or friend with a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness or who is frail or aged.

Anyone can become a carer at any time and National Carers Week is an opportunity to raise community awareness among all Australians about the diversity of carers and their caring roles.

Carers make an enormous contribution to our communities as well as our national economy.

If carers did not perform their caring role, it would cost the country $60.3 billion a year to replace those supports - that's more than $1 billion per week.

National Carers Week provides everyone with a chance to show their appreciation and learn about carers and caring in Australia.

Central Queensland is hosting a range of events to celebrate Carers Week 2017.
