Animals and humans feel the cold hit in Central Queensland

8.40am: WHILE humans can add a few extra layers, use a microwave or kettle to create a hot drink and turn on a heater to beat the cold weather, our animals are not so lucky.

6.45am: THE cold front impacting southern Australia has finally reached Central Queensland.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, Rockhampton's minimum temperature overnight was 5.4 at 5.24am while Biloela reached -1.3 at 6.13am.

One reader reported Thangool, near Biloela, has recorded a temperature of -1.1.

Gladstone Airport recorded 7.8 and St Lawrence recorded a minimum of 5.2.

Emerald's overnight minimum temperature was 4 while Clermont Airport recorded a low of 0.6 at 6.13am.

Moranbah Airport recorded a low of 2.3 at 4.43am and Blackwater Airport recorded 2.6 at 4.41am.
