Credit Union CEO puts up hand for Commerce Chamber

WARWICK Credit Union CEO Lewis Von Stieglitz is the likely replacement for the outgoing Warwick Chamber of Commerce president Bruce Partridge, when it is decided next month.

While a meeting will be held on April 20 to determine the final choice, Mr Von Stieglitz said he was happy to put his hand up for the position.

"It's not rubber-stamped but as the current vice president I am happy to step up," Mr Von Stieglitz said.

"This is certainly not final as there is still time for others to put their hat in the ring but I would be happy to step into the job."

Mr Partridge said he endorsed Mr Von Stieglitz in the role.

"The vice-president Lewis Von Stieglitz will make a very capable leader and I wish Warwick Chamber and the business community a great future," Mr Partridge said.

The outgoing president said he had enjoyed his time as president of the Warwick Chamber of Commerce.

"I have been privileged to lead the Warwick Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a group with a long history in the Southern Downs," Mr Partridge said.

"The Chamber is in a very healthy financial position and has been very active over my time in bringing business issues to the appropriate Council and our local members of parliament," he said.

"I have been a part of some fantastic work done by Warwick Chamber - including Business Awards, Business after hour's nights, and last year a re-introduction of the Christmas Parade.

"Warwick Chamber has also been active pushing for transport links and growth of business development - new work on the Woodenbong Road link to the Coast has been a combination of chamber and council pressure, but also significant publicity by Warwick Daily News."
