Champ Resources staff tackling 1kg steak challenge for kids

ROCKHAMPTON'S Champ Resources are tackling the Outback Jack's 1kg steak challenge this month for sick kids.

The local labour hire company will have their knives and forks ready to chow down in support of the Starlight Children's Foundation as part of their weekly staff luncheon meeting.

Several staff members will be taking part in the challenge at the East St restaurant on July 17, with the aim to inspire other Rockhampton businesses to get on board as well.

The sad reality is that every minute of every day a child is admitted to hospital in Australia.

Unfortunately thousands of these children and young people are then faced with a diagnosis that can change their life, and the lives of their family, forever.

Starlight programs are integral to the total care of seriously ill children and young people.

While health professionals focus on treating the illness, Starlight is there to focus on the child - lifting their spirits, giving them an opportunity to laugh and play, building resilience and improving their wellbeing.

The fastest times at each store will go into the playoffs to have a chance of making it to the national final in late August.

The eventual winner will get the choice to attend either the AFL or NRL grand final.

STEAK CHALLENGE

The contestant must eat a certified diamond cut prime 1kg aged rump steak served with potato wedges and steamed vegetables.

Eat it as fast as you can. You could win tickets to the AFL or NRL grand final.
