Chaotic scenes played out north of Brisbane as a man allegedly evaded police by dodging cars, driving on the wrong side of the road and eventually climbing onto a roof before being arrested by police.

Police have charged a 22-year-old after the two-hour chase, initially called about a stolen black Audi S5 allegedly seen driving at high speeds in Caboolture about 8am Monday.

Police say the car was chased along Morayfield Road just before 10am where it mounted a roundabout and exited onto Uhlmann Road towards the Bruce Highway.

Police stopped their chase after the Audi allegedly drove through a red light but a police helicopter continued to follow the car along the highway.

In the video you can see the car narrowly missing vehicles while flying past other cars.

The stolen Audi, which is believed to have been stolen from an address on Maleny-Stanley River Road address in Wootha Sunday afternoon, was then driven to a house on Burkeley Court, Caboolture, where a man was arrested.

The 22-year-old man has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evade police, burglary and possess dangerous drugs.

He will face the Caboolture Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Caboolture residents reported "hearing the car well before seeing it", with reports at one point indicating it was travelling "loud and fast" down Morayfield Road.

"Flew past us at the shopping centre, watched 8 cars, a motorbike and the helicopter follow," one local said.

"Came past my office would have been doing 160km easy, cops where 2 minutes behind," another said.
