Charged with glassing a man

A 28-YEAR-old Rockhampton man has been charged with unlawful wounding after allegedly smashing a stubby into a teenager's head.

The alleged assault took place during a fight involving four men at The Post Office Hotel, in Musgrave Street, 20 minutes after midnight on Saturday morning.

A 19-year-old man was treated for injuries sustained in the brawl at Rockhampton Hospital.

His injuries are described as serious, but not life threatening.

Police said he suffered lacerations to his head.

The accused man was arrested at the hotel and will appear in court in Rockhampton on October 12.

The alleged attack is the latest in a series of alcohol-fuelled violent incidents to scar Rockhampton and Yeppoon in the last couple of months.

Authorities have been so shocked by the scale and ferocity of the violence, there have been calls for tougher action against licensees who continue to serve drinks to people who are already clearly intoxicated.
