Chemical spill at Rocky school

GLENMORE High School students had an unexpected break to the school day when it was evacuated yesterday after a report of phosphorous leaking from a container inside the school.

A Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said they were called out at 11.02am to the school which was evacuated for over an hour.

“A scientific team was called for assistance and we had crews go in with breathing apparatus, remove the cap from a jar, refill it with water and then the area was deemed safe at 12.06pm.”

No one was reported injured and students were able to return to school when the area was made safe.

Police did not attend.
