CHINESE investors are looking beyond beef to the potential of Central Queensland and it's high-end tourism that has their attention.

As the world's largest nation looks to feed its ever-growing population, some out-of-the-box thinking is producing ideas and investment opportunities for cashed-up Chinese, and export possibilities for local business.

Lorna Zhang, director of Leisis Consulting, was in Rockhampton yesterday to gain an understanding of the region's potential.

Ms Zhang is in the business of business matching and spent yesterday in a series of discussions with Trade and Investment Queensland.
