Chinese trade fair opens doors for CQ

A SENIOR team from the Central Highlands Development Corporations (CHDC) attended last week's Guizhou Cross-Border Investment and Trade Fair which attracted more than 1500 delegates from 47 countries.

CHDC general manager Sandra Hobbs said the conference had the potential to open up future business opportunities in the region.

"We seized the opportunity to raise the profile of the Central Highlands on a global level and showcase our region's investment opportunities, particularly in agriculture and tourism," Ms Hobbs said.

"We also forged new connections with high-level business, industry and government representative and came away with a better understanding of what investors are looking for and how we can better position our regional products.

"We thank them for giving us the privilege and honour of attending..."

There was strong positive feedback of the projects CHDC promoted including the CQ Inland Port, Central Highlands Meat Processing Plant and the Central Highlands Oilseed and Grain Processing Facility.

CHDC attended the conference as a guest of the Bank of China (BOC) and the Guizhou Provincial Government.

"In light of the success of our trip, we've already had further talks with the Bank of China in Brisbane this week and we look forward to working with them into the future." Ms Hobbs said.

"We saw a large amount of positive developments being progressed that answer the needs of the Guizhou province and its anticipated growth.

"We look forward to sharing out experience with industry in the Central Highlands, especially the agriculture and tourism industries."
