Toowoomba lawyer named as one of Qld's leading women

THE director of a Toowoomba law firm has been named one of YWCA Queensland's 125 leading women.

Murdoch Lawyers' Leanne Matthewson was included on the list created to mark the YWCA's 125th year in Queensland, along with public figures such as Quentin Bryce, Anna Bligh and Cathy Freeman.

Ms Matthewson was recognised for her contribution as the foundation president of YWCA Queensland as well as a management committee member and twice president of YWCA Downs and South West Queensland.

Other local women named on the list of leading women include Mary Wagner, Professor Jan Thomas, Sharon Boyce, Di Thorley and Laura Geitz.

Ms Matthewson was appointed as a director of Murdoch Lawyers, along with Matt Bell, in July last year.

She first started working at the firm more than a decade ago.
