Elderly cleaner refused bail, charged with sexual assault

AN  ELDERLY cleaner has been refused bail over the repeated sexual assault of a young employee at Coffs Harbour.

Last month, a teenage girl told police she had been sexually assaulted by her 67-year-old boss over a number of years when she was between the ages of 12 and 15.

The assaults allegedly took place between 2011 and 2013 when the girl was working on a casual basis for the man's cleaning business.

Detectives from the Coffs Harbour Child Abuse Squad arrested the man at his home on Bonnie Street in the North Boambee Valley late Thursday.

He was charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault, eight counts of aggravated indecent assault under authority and one count of commit act of indecency towards person under 16 years in circumstances of aggravation.

He fronted the Coffs Harbour Court on Friday and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on April 15.
