Clermont Show ‘beefs’ up funds for RACQ CQ Rescue
FUNDRAISING of a different kind was the order of the day at the 2015 Clermont Show with RACQ CQ Rescue one of two beneficiaries at the event.
Since 2008, over $40,000 has been raised for the rescue service through the Beef Cattle Auction 'Charity Class' and this year was no exception with the proceeds totalling $14,000 which will benefit two worthy charities servicing the Clermont region and surrounds.
RACQ CQ Rescue CEO Martin Cleland attended the Clermont Show and Beef Cattle Dinner and was overwhelmed by the country hospitality he received.
"It was a truly wonderful event and I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Clermont. There was an enormous amount of support for RACQ CQ Rescue which was great to see," Mr Cleland said.
Proceeds were raised through the generous support of local exhibitors by donating cows or steers for the live auction as well as various other fundraising ideas including raffles.
Mr Cleland said the Clermont Show has been fundraising for RACQ CQ Rescue for eight years with incredible results.
"It's heart-warming to see so many people come together for a cause," he said.
"We're extremely grateful to the Clermont community for supporting our rescue service. Clermont and surrounding regions rely heavily on the rescue helicopter service.
"The importance of the service to the area has been a driving factor behind the fundraiser. I'm very much looking forward to next year's event."
