Close call for three vehicles

THREE vehicles travelling in a convoy near Longreach all deliberately ignored level crossing protection, nearly resulting in a collision with a rail vehicle this week.

Queensland Rail chief executive officer Paul Scurrah said when the third vehicle sped in front of the rail vehicle only two metres separated them.

"A near miss with one vehicle is bad enough, but for three drivers to all consciously decide to ignore level crossing protection is remarkable and very remarkable," he said.
