Tough times cause another city company to close

A TOOWOOMBA e-commerce business will close, citing the current financial climate for the tough decision.

Online store for pets Amaroo Pet opened at the end of 2015 as the "first e-commerce business of its size in Toowoomba".

But co-director Renine Anderson announced that Amaroo Pet would close permanently on January 27.

"This decision has been extremely difficult, as we have met or spoken to so many amazing people," she said.

"It has been so much fun getting to know you all, so it will be very sad to say goodbye."

The team behind Amaroo Pet said since opening the business they had contributed to many activities in the local community and supported a number of clubs and charitable organisations.

"We are extremely proud of all that we have accomplished over the last two year and could not be more thankful to those who have believed in us and supported our business," Ms Anderson said.

"Unfortunately, due to the current financial climate the competitive nature of e-commerce businesses, Amaroo Pet is unable to compete in this current market.

"Price matching from our local competitors also had a significant impact on our business. As a regrettable outcome of this, we have to shut down our company in less than two weeks' time."

Ms Anderson added the company would no longer be able to deliver orders due to diminishing stock levels, instead stock will only be sold via click and collect from the Toowoomba warehouse.

"We acknowledge that this closing down period will be a difficult and emotional time for us, however we will endeavour to answer each query as promptly as possible," she said.
