UPDATE 8AM: A man on a Queensland honeymoon has been credited with stopping a Sunshine Coast man from opening a plane door mid-flight.

The incident occurred towards the end of a 15-hour Air Canada flight on Wednesday.

Shannon How was sitting near the exit with new his wife Ana Rodriquez-Horn when he noticed the 25-year-old Currimundi man attempting to open the door.

"I ran over and this guy is trying to pull the lever to get the door open," he told Seven News.

"I just reacted. I pulled his hand off and tackled him to the ground."

EARLIER: A Currimundi man was escorted from a plane on its way to Brisbane on Thursday after he allegedly tried to open a plane door mid-flight.

Australian Federal Police are investigating the incident where it's alleged that the 25-year-old Sunshine Coast man attempted to open a plane door during the Air Canada flight from Vancouver to Brisbane.

The man was taken into custody by AFP officers upon the plane's arrival into Brisbane.

An AFP spokesman told News Corp that a 25-year-old man from Currimundi on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland was escorted from the plane.

"After assisting police with their enquiries he was allowed to leave the airport pending further investigation," the spokesman said.

"Police enquiries into this matter are continuing. No charges have been laid at this time."

Air Canada general manager Australia New Zealand Paul McLean confirmed there was a disruptive passenger on board the flight, and they requested authorities meet the plane when it landed.

It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the alleged disruptive behaviour.
