Police rocked by death of 'promising young constable'

THE Sunshine Coast's police community has been shattered by the death of a 'promising young constable', with an outpouring of tributes on social media.

Blue Hope, a suicide support group for police, posted on its Facebook page that "our thoughts are prayers go out to the men and women of the Sunshine Coast Police District rocked (on Thursday) by the loss".

"Further details will be released when appropriate but in the mean time please understand that you are not alone," it wrote.

"To the friends and colleagues of this very promising young officer, we mourn your loss and rest assured we stand with you in your grief.

"For anyone that is struggling with this or any other situation, Blue HOPE stands ready."

Tributes were left for the officer's colleagues and family.

"Your loss has touched us all deeply. I will miss your smiling face and genuine care you had for people. To the crews and QAS that responded yesterday, thank you for your outstanding efforts and please speak to someone if you need to."
