Fraser Coast teacher on 45 child sex charges

A FRASER Coast teacher has been charged with more than 40 child sex-related charges.

The primary school teacher, who cannot be named, was arrested at his home late on Thursday and charged with rape, sodomy and other offences related to the historic assault of two brothers and another boy.

Police will allege the three boys were known to the accused but were not his students.

The arrest came after a protracted investigation into the alleged assaults on the boys who are now adults.

A relative of the alleged victims pleaded for privacy for the family.

The Chronicle understands that following his arrest, the teacher was officially stood down from his position pending the outcome of the court case.

Education Queensland was contacted for a response but did not respond by deadline.

Detective Inspector Nikki Colfs said police were "very vigilant" when it came to investigations involving children because of the impact the offences had on the community.

Investigations were continuing.
