Collision puts two men in hospital
A 40-YEAR-OLD has serious injuries following a head-on collision 47km south of Middlemount.
The collision between a utility and a light-duty truck on the Fitzroy Development Rd occurred about 6am yesterday and left the 40-year-old driver trapped in his vehicle.
Another man in his early 30s was the sole occupant of the other vehicle in the accident, but managed to escape from his vehicle following the accident.
The entrapped man was freed from his vehicle just after 9am yesterday.
Both of the men were taken to the Mackay Base Hospital to be treated for their injuries.
This collision follows an alarming trend of accidents on Central Queensland roads, including a fatal accident at Yaamba last Friday that resulted in the death of two miners.
The crash closed the Fitzroy Development Rd until 11am yesterday, delaying a number of vehicles.
Investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing.
