Comedian Ruby Wax: I’d have Christopher Pyne’s baby
ON A distant yet-to-be-colonised planet, Education Minister Christopher Pyne and American comedian Ruby Wax have a child named Mr Chatterbox.
ABC's Monday night panel show QandA ended on a bizarre tangent as astrophysicist Brian Schmidt's words about life on other worlds were derailed by Ruby asking, "On the other planet, do you think there's people like him?" and pointing to Mr Pyne.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
She then carried on the joke, saying she and the Coalition Minister would have a child together to help kickstart the new planet.
Skip to 3m40s to hear Ruby's plan to have baby with Christopher Pyne:
Host Tony Jones half-heartedly attempted to move things along by asking Labor heavyweight Penny Wong her opinion, only to have her say, "I'm still reeling at Ruby's joke of whether there's one of him there".
And off Ruby went again, describing "the horror, the horror" of their offspring.
Minister Pyne hops back in: "Don't tell my wife, she would be very embarrassed.
"It doesn't matter. When we're up there, who's going to know?" Ruby responds.
And with just moments on the clock, Mr Jones asks what they would name their off-planet child.
"Mr Chatterbox," Ruby says.
But even though that was "all we have time for", Ruby and the Minister spent the final moments of the show holding each other close -- serenaded by activist rocker Michael Franti -- with Ruby stroking the MInister's hair.
