Commercial fishermen front council over Fitzroy fishing woes

COMMERCIAL fishing in the Fitzroy River was at the forefront of the Rockhampton Regional Council Ordinary Meeting agenda yesterday morning.

Rockhampton commercial fishermen Dave Swindells and Keith Harris addressed councillors regarding the State Government's plan to remove commercial fishing nets from the Fitzroy River in a bid to encourage tourism.

Mr Swindells believed tourism and commercial fishing could work together.
