Me and My Ride: Kris loves his 1978 HZ Holden ute

KRIS Rose's first car was a ute just because he loves the shape and sound of most of that style of car.

Over time he developed a love for one tonners, which made him head out looking for one.

Five years ago he stumbled upon a wrecked one in good enough condition to resurrect it to the streets.

After fours years' of hard work the project was finally on the road.

Many of the hours spent on the car were to make sure the rebuild was done with genuine parts rather than aftermarket ones.

It was important to Rose to get the one tonner how he wanted it.

"The details like that are important in trying to keep it original," he said of the 1978 HZ Holden.

Sometimes it meant a long wait until Rose was lucky enough to find a part he was looking for.

"It took me three years just to find the badge on the front," he said.

"If you want parts in good condition you have to be patient."

His ride is still not finished, but is done enough to enjoy with his dog Bella.
