Cop basher's sentence appealed

THE Queensland Police Service has appealed the sentencing of a man who was found guilty of attacking a Pittsworth police officer.

In February, Jay Leslie Briskey pleaded guilty to assaulting Senior Constable Steve Johnson on May 7 last year.

Briskey was sentenced to 12 months jail, but was released immediately on parole.
