Costigan quits in CQ NRL bid shock

IN a major shock, NRL personality Jason Costigan has quit the CQ NRL Bid team.

The Fox Sports rugby league commentator dropped the bombshell to The Morning Bulletin late yesterday.

Costigan was a key figure with the bid team in his role as project co-ordinator.

He has cited family reasons for his departure.

It is understood Costigan will relocate closer to his home town of Mackay.

The shock news comes during the week that former North Queensland Cowboys boss Denis Keeffe arrived to take up his post as inaugural chief executive of the CQ NRL Bid team.

Costigan’s departure is a huge blow given the experience and contacts he has in the NRL.

He formerly held positions with the Canterbury Bulldogs and also the Bradford Bulls in the English Super League.

He was lured to the CQ NRL Bid team by its chairman Geoff Murphy in what appeared to be a wise move.
