Costigan says he was asked to defect to Clive's PUP party
WHITSUNDAYS Member Jason Costigan has revealed he was asked to defect to the Palmer United Party.
"I have had an approach from the Palmer United Party, I took a call a couple of weeks ago," he said.
"There was a day there when I had a call and had a conversation with someone who claimed to be a representative of the Palmer United Party.
"I'm a blue and gold man to my boots and I told this person accordingly and I would've thought he would've left that conversation pretty crystal clear that I'm the LNP member for the Whitsundays and I'm here to stay."
When asked about any inducements offered by the PUP, Mr Costigan said it was suggested they would be able to help him with his campaign.
Mr Costigan made the revelation at a press conference after Treasurer Tim Nicholls had taken part in a civic leaders' forum in Mackay.
The forum was used to discuss ways to reduce Queensland's debt levels with the idea of privatising assets spoken about at the meeting.
