Council calls for wreaths pre-register ahead of centenary

COMMUNITY groups and schools who wish to lay a wreath at the Rockhampton Anzac Day Dawn Service at the Botanical Gardens are being encouraged to pre-register with Rockhampton Regional Council.

Chair of Rockhampton Regional Council's Anzac Day organising committee, Cr Rose Swadling said that pre-registration will make the process run more smoothly.

"With this year being the centenary of Anzac, we are expecting increased attendance at Anzac Day events.

"With more groups and schools expected to want to lay wreaths, pre-registration will help us streamline the process and have it planned out well before the event," she said.

Representatives of groups wanting to lay a wreath at the Rockhampton Anzac Day Dawn Service should pre-register by phoning 4936 8035 or by visiting www.rockhamptonregion.qld.gov.au/anzacday

No registrations will be accepted on the day.

Registered community groups and schools will lay their wreaths at the conclusion of wreath laying by official parties.

Individuals wishing to personally lay a wreath may do so after the Dawn Service.
