Council to continue Marcia clean up when funds are received

ROCKHAMPTON Regional Council are waiting on funding for Cyclone Marcia recovery to come through before work is finished in some parts of the region.

During a performance and service committee meeting, council received the summary budget management report for June.

The report listed council's grants and subsidies as being under budget and council heard this was due to fund for Cyclone Marcia recovery not being received before the end of financial year.

Proceeds from the initial cyclone insurance claims were also received during June.

Councillor Tony Williams said council would continue repairing cyclone damage when the funds were received, with work being held up during this time.

He said it wasn't a question of whether council would receive the funding, but when it would arrive.

"There is quite a substantial amount of work that you don't really appreciate until you get out there," Cr Williams said.
