Council expands kerbside recycling

ROCKHAMPTON Regional Council’s Waste and Recycling Services is working towards expanding its kerbside recycling wheelie bin collection with the future roll-out of recycling bins to residents who currently have a kerbside general waste collection.

This means that residents of the Rockhampton region who currently receive a general waste kerbside wheelie bin collection should in the future receive a kerbside recycling collection as well.

Currently, only residents in Rockhampton and Gracemere receive a fortnightly kerbside 240-litre recycling wheelie bin collection service. Kerbside collection of yellow top wheelie bins commenced in November 2008, replacing the recycling bag collection system that had been in operation since 1992 in Rockhampton and from 2002 in Gracemere.

Residents in the Capricorn Coast area currently have recycling drop-off facilities at prominent locations throughout the area.

Free recycling drop-off areas are available at selected waste management facilities throughout the region.

For more information regarding recycling in the Rockhampton Region, contact the council’s Customer Service Hotline on 1300 22 55 77 to be transferred to a Waste and Recycling Services officer.
