McCafferty's ordered to clean up

COUNCIL is working with the owners of North Rockhampton’s former McCafferty’s bus terminal to clear up a big mess.

Last month The Morning Bulletin reported on the rundown state of the site and the health concerns of nearby residents regarding a house on the site, off Linnett Street, that is being used by squatters.

On Friday council issued a short statement to say it had issued the property owners with a public health order.

“We are continuing to work with the owners to achieve an acceptable outcome for the community,” the council statement said.

Rockhampton Regional Council Cr Tony Williams has led the call for the owner to deal with the situation after receiving a number of calls from nearby residents about health and safety concerns.
