Council planners support unit boost

AN APPLICATION for a $100 million, five-star resort near Emu Park, which has angered residents, is back in the spotlight today.

Developer Moondaze already has approval for 120 multiple-dwelling units, restaurant, function centre, bar and health spa retreat on Haven Rd at Tanby Point.

This afternoon councillors will be asked to approve an increase in the number of units to 201, although Moondaze is not proposing to increase the area.

There are 27 submissions, but planning officers are recommending approval despite conflict with the planning scheme.

Objectors to the development include high-profile house builder Scott Kilpatrick.

The existing planning consent allows for a site density of 446 persons. The new application would allow 535 persons in 78 one-bedroom, 114 two-bedroom and nine three-bedroom units.
