Council thinks about $5000 offer

ROCKHAMPTON Regional Council is to consider giving $5000 to an independent group which is producing a handbook to advise individuals and communities on their rights when dealing with gas and mining companies.

Councillors today agreed to include the donation in its next budget deliberations after learning that the Environmental Defenders' Office, which is working on the handbook, is a non-profit, non-government legal centre which "seeks to protect the environment in the public interest".
