Council throws its weight behind industry/resources Expo

ROCKHAMPTON Mayor Margaret Strelow is channelling all she can into making the city a major service point for the Bowen, Galilee and Surat Basin areas.

She's doing this by encouraging businesses to base themselves in Rockhampton.

The Rockhampton Regional Council has further solidified its support for the energy and resources industry in Central Queensland with confirmation that it is now the major sponsor of the 2014 CQ Industry and Resources Expo.

Cr Strelow said she looked forward to joining forces with Australian Events in staging the third annual CQ Expo, at Rockhampton Showground from March 19-20.

With mining production in Australia predicted to grow by 41% over the next five years, event director Bob Carroll believed that having the council as a major sponsor would highlight the opportunities in the region.
