VIDEO: Capricorn Country Club veteran inspired by Jason Day

WHEN Maurice Brown tees off at the Capricorn Country Club (CCC) today, he'll have Jason Day on his mind.

The 68-year-old veteran shed a tear as he watched the former CCC member win the US PGA yesterday morning, and he hoped to channel Day's success when he contests the Capricornia Veterans Golf Open today.

"It was awesome to see Jason win and beat some of the world's best golfers," Maurice said.

"Just to watch him on the 18th hole, there were a few tears coming out of his eyes as he's been under a lot of pressure and I had a couple of tears in my eyes too. Jason Day will be with me all day out here today. I won the Veterans Open in 2010 here and it would be nice to, with the thought of Jason Day, finish with a good score.

"He'll certainly be the talk of the course today."

Play begins at 7am.
