Couple travel rocky road to love

INTRODUCING little Amelia Hill - the beautiful product of a relationship finally gone right after a rocky road to romance spanning some 20 years.

We've previously brought you the story of John and Julie Hill of Ballina, who married each other for the second time last year after an 18-year marriage, then divorce and two-year separation before finding love with each other again.

But proving fate does indeed have a hand in life even if it is years down the track, Mrs Hill fell pregnant at 41, shortly after the couple's second marriage.

"Amelia wasn't planned. We were trying to fall pregnant before we divorced years ago and then we got back together last year and I fell pregnant within a month," Mrs Hill said.

"She's the best thing the two of us have ever done.

"She's the best little surprise we could have had.

"We wish we could have been able to have kids years ago but it was just meant to happen now. Amelia is the bonus of all the good, the bad and then coming full circle and getting together again. It was obviously the way life was just meant to be for us."

"It was a surprise, but it's been a joyful surprise so I'm pretty happy with it all," Mr Hill added.

Amelia is named after one of her pilot father's flying heroes, Amelia Earhart, and Mr Hill hopes Amelia one day follows in his footsteps as a pilot.

He even hopes she is flying solo before she gets her driver's licence. The couple's family and friends are overjoyed with the new addition to the family. And the Hills haven't yet ruled out a little brother or sister for Amelia further down the track.

"We'll just leave it out there and if it happens, it happens," Mrs Hill said.

And Mrs Hill had the following for the lovelorn:

"Never lose faith and trust your inner instincts and feelings. Sometimes we may need a break from a relationship to look at ourselves I think and eventually if it was meant to be it will be."
