Couple's boat beached for three weeks, then overturned
A COUPLE were rescued on the weekend after spending three weeks near Island Head Creek, Shoalwater Bay as their boat beached and then overturned.
Yesterday afternoon RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue retrieved the occupants of the overturned vessel.
The couple were recovered by RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue after spending three weeks in location trying to float their beached vessel during high tide.
The couple's last attempt resulted in the vessel overturning leaving them stranded onshore without supplies. The helicopter service transported both in a stable condition.
Shortly after returning to base RACQ Capricorn Helicopter service transported a 49-year-old Gladstone man to Rockhampton in a serious but stable condition after he was involved in a motorcycle accident. The patient received suspected chest injuries and multiple fractures as a result of the accident.
Yesterday's retrieval from Island Head Creek followed weekend transfers of a 45-year-old female patient from Emerald following a possible stroke and a 53-year-old Rolleston man suffering with suspected acute pneumonia.
Both patients were transported in a stable condition.
