Cow dead after struck by car near meatworks near Nerimbera

A CENTRAL Queensland man was stuck in his hatchback sedan for more than an hour after his vehicle collided with a cow on Emu Park Road last night.

The man, in his 60s, was in the vehicle with his wife and two children; a 10-year-old boy and a nine-year-old girl.

He was treated for spinal injuries as a precaution, but was otherwise in a stable condition.

The collision took place about 15km from the meatworks in Emu Park Road, near Nerimbera.

The road was closed for a short time while emergency services cleared the scene.

A police media spokeswoman said the cow sadly did not survive the collision.

Rockhampton Regional Council officers removed the dead animal.
